I was actually worried that MARCH would end with martial law! They've been moving so incredibly fast in dismantling the government, and what I suspect is Musk and his little hacker maggots planting little bombs in all the federal software, so all they have to do it issue one command and everything would go down. Then Trump could declare a national emergency and the need for martial law to "fix it", and we'd be toast. I guess that could still happen, but I'm happy that so many insiders are now fighting back, it's truly encouraging.

Regarding your comment on the military. My daughter just celebrated 10 years in the Navy and every time over the last 10 years if i asked how she felt or the people she worked with about something political she always answered the same way. We aren’t political, mom. They need to be that way because the prez is thier boss. Its best for their ability to function to stay away from the news & politics. The beginning of this month, she texted me to ask about something political for the first time in 10 years. She is pissed off that an unelected rando without security clearance and unable to actually sit in the Presidents office since he wasnt born in this country assh@T is calling the shots without any consideration for outcomes. Things are definitely changing.

So I’ll be out on April 5, I’m sending money to Democracy Forward, I’m writing letters to AGs and my congressional folks, and I’m boycotting the billionaires. March on!

Our house is 100% onboard!

We’re very rural and have some age-related challenges to travel but we’re going to our first resistance gathering in a nearby town on the 5th! We’re excited to put our feet in a place to support our voice!

Given our location (deep in militia territory) we keep our political opinions held close (hence not using my name here) as there has been increased intimidation activity to some from the boys who like to play-act with guns so we keep our resistance activities online.

I’ve told my wife repeatedly that Trump maybe the best thing that could have happened to us as we are rising together to build towards change that may not have happened any other way - the opposite side of that is the damage he and his pack of incompetent shoe shine boys have visited upon us tears at our hearts and when this is over, we want to be active even with our modest means in helping repair it and support any and all valid efforts to heal the pain experienced by those effected.

I think in the near future the gop and maga are going to have ample opportunity to reflect on the immortal words of Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor: “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve”.

Keep up the good fight - you are doing critical work informing and uniting we who struggle to participate in the resistance!

Thank you! 😃

Scratchbilt's avatar

scramsay, I really do believe that - I think often to how this would have gone if someone competent and savvy would have been elected and using just the right amount of patience and application with subtle manipulation that we’d have found ourselves shackled to an authoritarian regime with all the loopholes closed and their base primed to cheer them on in unassailable mob strength and never truly see it coming.

The surprising thing about this comedy of errors is how after so long a time of crafting this plot, the Project 2025 authors willingly overplayed their hand so hard and so suddenly.

The only thing I can think of is that the gop has spent so much time operating so deeply in their echo chamber that they’ve lost complete touch with the idea there’s folk who don’t automatically buy their bullshit w/o question and have the temerity to hold them to account for the surreal version of reality they espouse.

What reinforces it for me is watching the scripted responses they all reply with and will not deviate from no matter how specific the questioning which requires a different answer - It’s the same whether it’s a town hall, a news interview or Senate hearing - it never varies.

It’s almost like watching some low-rent party wizard who just can’t understand how their “hypnotizing” spell isn’t working so they cast it again and again and again all the while getting so frustrated they have to flee back inside that echo chamber to get the safe response they’re looking for - once there, they then gabble on about how it’s their intended victim’s fault.

If it wasn’t so f*cking damaging and causing so much pain and suffering, it’d be very entertaining to study.

I truly believe it will be their downfall - we just have to scramble to survive long enough so as to pick up the pieces and rebuild it better. 😀

What a great read to start my day. I am one of the 3.5% and exhorting my circle of influence to hit the streets with me.

I was feeling annoyed with the hestitance and inaction, but in the last week, i can feel seething anger building. My total introvert spouse, who wouldnt raise his voice if a truck was bearing down on me, will join ne at our state capitol on April 5.

Don’t sit out making history!

Also helps immensely that Rachael Maddow is amping coverage of protests on MSNBC.

Our small city’s protest against our Congressman Blake Moore - the DOGE Committee co-chair (co-conspirator) is refusing to hold a town but snuck into town for a private high $ fundraiser got 20 seconds. We feel seen and more importantly HEARD.

GET LOUD!

Same in my state. The protests have taken over the media narrative. It was priceless to have the protestors outside the actual fund raising dinner that Thom Tillis held. (He will not have a town hall so we have had empty chair town halls with a cardboard cutout). Keep up the good work.
