Behind the Scenes of Trump’s Slippery Nobel Obsession
The nominations keep racking up, but Trump wants the prize without the peace.

Today’s Nobel nomination shuffle sums it up perfectly: Trump was nominated and dropped from the Nobel Peace Prize—in the same day. MAGA rep Buddy Carter (R-GA) tossed Trump’s name in the hat for supposedly brokering an Israel–Iran truce (that didn’t materialize). Meanwhile, Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Merezhko withdrew his earlier nomination for Trump—declaring he “no longer believes” Trump can bring peace to Ukraine.
It’s not just him chasing a prize—it’s a showcase of how Trump wants the world’s validation.
Trump himself has said it bluntly:
Or this post from earlier this week:
Four claims for times he should have one and five mentions in one post? Let’s be honest: Trump’s obsession with the Nobel Peace Prize is practically pathological. He brings it up time and time again, both in his speeches and posts. (If I were better at video editing, I’d put in a clever montage right here, but you’ll just have to trust me that there is plenty of footage for a very long montage.)
Former National Security Advisor John Bolton once revealed that Trump was incensed Obama received the prize just nine months into office. Bolton said Trump “couldn’t get over it,” calling it one of the many petty resentments that shaped his foreign policy priorities. He’s still chasing that validation like a dog after a car he wouldn’t know what to do with if he caught it.
And that brings us to Pakistan.
Last week, Pakistan’s military leadership nominated Trump for the 2026 Peace Prize, citing his so-called “decisive diplomatic intervention” in the India–Pakistan ceasefire. Only, it wasn’t really diplomacy—it was a public announcement on Truth Social followed by a lunch with Pakistan’s Army Chief, Asim Munir. India immediately denied any U.S. role in the truce.
And here’s where it gets interesting.
Pakistan got what it needed: goodwill, global press, and cover for a lucrative crypto and minerals deal signed with a Trump-linked company, World Liberty Financial.
Coincidence? Maybe. But let’s not ignore the six-figure lobbying contracts Pakistan signed with Trump allies like Keith Schiller and George Sorial right around the same time. Or the revived chatter about luxury Trump real estate deals in Karachi and Lahore. Or the way this all fits neatly into Trump’s brand of “peace through self-promotion and side hustles.” arabnews.com politico
Trump’s Nobel hunt isn’t about peace—it’s about prestige, revenge, and possibly profit.
And now, it’s starting to look a lot like he’s brokering for nominations the same way he used to broker licensing deals: slap the name on it, promise greatness, and let the headlines do the rest.
But here's the thing: peace isn’t a marketing gimmick. It doesn’t come from PR campaigns or Truth Social monologues or lunch meetings with generals. It especially doesn’t come from bombing a country one day, then declaring a ceasefire the next. And the Nobel Committee? They know that.
Which is probably why, after all this, Trump still doesn’t have one.
Just a stack of nomination press clippings—and one more grievance to “truth” about.
Keep resisting my friends,
Rosie

I’m a journalist and novelist whose career was upended by long COVID—years of neurological and physical damage that still keep me in recovery mode most days and prompted an urgent move to lower elevation. But the state of this country lit a fire I couldn’t ignore. So I write when I can, from the margins of exhaustion, because staying silent isn't an option.
If you've found strength or clarity in my work, and you're in a position to help, I’m asking for your support. I’m not a fan of paywalls, especially at a precarious economic time when so many of us are financially strapped. I don’t want anyone denied access to anything due to finances. I think, like with everything Republican, this is a lot of horseshit. The Nobel Committee closes applications every year in JANUARY. Nominations for next year aren't accepted until October. https://www.nobelpeaceprize.org/nobel-peace-prize/nomination/the-nomination-process They also keep the nominations secret for 50 years and are very strict about this - so wouldn't shouting from the rooftops that you nominated someone most likely not go well for your guy?
I actually hate this orange rat bastid..(Brooklynease—a dying if not already dead— breed…)
